Normally I hate when people talk about finances but I seriously need to talk about this. Kaden's paychecks used to pay all of our bills and mine were either saved for Kaden to go back to school or used to pay student loans. Unfortunately this hasn't been the case since November. In November, Kaden started to get his paychecks with instructions not to cash it. Being the nice person he is, he deposited it and they started to bounce. Needless to say, this became such a big problem that his company ended up changing their paydates (not their pay period though) and that helped like once so that everyone could cash them. Then in December they started postponing distributing paychecks all together. They would just cut small amounts so that the employees could cash them or they would give cash. (The funny thing is they call these small amounts advances. I don't think they understand what an advance is exactly because really they should call it back pay). This upset us but after much prayer we did not feel compelled to get another job (I know, that is strange).
Kaden was told in January that they were right on track after having really good sales weeks and that by the 25th of January they would be all caught up on payroll. Yea right, how could we be so gullible? Again we still were praying and still not receiving any prompting for Kaden to get a new job so maybe that explains us believing things were better. Last week, however, we started to receive some promptings for Kaden to start putting his application in places and apply to positions even if that meant he'd be paid less than he is making now. So we revamped his resume and applied to a couple of places.
Friday Kaden got a check for almost the rest of what he is owed for his January 25th check. Yesterday I checked our bank account and guess what bounced? Because we've had these checks bounce numerous times, Wells Fargo is now charging us for a returned check fee, whereas before they weren't. This has been so frustrating to me! I have a break down weekly and sometimes multiple times in the week just wondering how we are going to pay for things or how we are going to be prepared to move come Fall for Kaden to go back to school. Sometimes I wonder if the Lord is even helping us or blessing us. I know that is an awful thing to say but I honestly feel that way sometimes when I start to feel so depressed about finances.
Friday Kaden and I went out for Valentine's Day (we had a gift card, thank heavens! Or we wouldn't have celebrated Valentine's Day). Right before going into the restaraunt, I had yet another break down. This time Kaden and I were able to have such a great conversation and he reminded me about faith and what it entails. I guess for me this is all coming at once first my Grandma dies, then my other Grandma gets super sick, after she gets better we find out that my Grandpa needs to have open heart surgery, and then William was sick which the week prior he gave me such a hard time which in turn made me even more depressed. I mean COME ON, can't I catch a break!?! Although I am still super worried, I know that this all will pass and that we will be able to accomplish what we want in time. Kaden also reminded me that months prior to all of this, we started budgeting and saving and it hasn't been extremely difficult for us to pay our bills on time and adjust accordingly. We have only recently (yesterday to be exact) had to dip into our savings and have not needed to use our credit cards. I guess that in itself has been a huge blessing to us! Sometimes I get so wrapped up in the negative that I have to be reminded of the positives and I am eternally grateful that I have Kaden as my husband. You know on Jerry Mcguire when he says, "You complete me." well that is how I feel about Kaden (I know, so cheesy, but true!). He really does complete me, all of my weaknesses are his strengths so when my weakness starts to bring me down he gives me strength and lifts me up!
Kaden has a job interview today with a company called Marketure so pray he does well and really impresses them. I also talked to my Manager yesterday about Kaden applying to a couple of positions at Vivint and he said that he will put in a good word for Kaden. So hopefully we can get this job thing resolved soon and that Kaden can quit his current job. We are also hoping that he'll get paid soon after quiting.
Luckily William has been a gem this week. He even slept all night from 10pm-7:30am. You might be thinking, wow thats not that impressive considering he is almost 10 months, but for me that is AMAZING! Especially since he went right back to sleep, woke up and just babbled for a while so that I could sleep until 10:30am! Wow, it felt good! I don't like to sleep that late all the time but the middle of the week is usually when i start to feel exhausted, so now I am well rested! Something to be happy about!
