Mommy the Working Woman

I have officially began work again! I started on Monday and luckily not much has changed since I left so I caught up pretty quickly. Kaden took this week off so that William still had one of his parents all day long and also so that we could spend some time together before we begin working opposite schedules. It has been nice because he can take care of William in the morning so that I can sleep a little longer since I don't get to bed until 1 a.m. usually. I am so grateful that he is willing to get up and change diapers and burp William and just deal with all this baby stuff. Kaden definately realized just in the last two days what it is like to take care of a baby all by yourself. It is hard, but I am so proud of both my boys!!

My first day back at work William cried most of the time. Apparently he had a really bad tummy ache and I think he was also missing his mommy comforting him. Kaden called me as soon as I got off work and asked me if I was home yet. Poor William just would not sleep or stop crying. Luckily he had a good night once I got home and fed him. Tuesday William was feeling much better and didn't cry as much which was good for daddy! Kaden brought him to my work for my lunch so I could feed him and it was so great to see my boys! I really do miss them when I am at work and I much rather nurse William then pump...haha.

We really hope things continue to go well for William this summer. Hopefully after the summer is over I will be able to cut back on hours and spend more time with my baby!!

This was on Monday, one of the few times William wasn't crying while I was at work. He took it on his phone so it is a little blurry.

Cousin Nicholas Visits

Last summer my nephew, Nicholas, came up to spend some time with my mom and step-dad. He ended up staying two weeks and he had a blast. I watched him a couple of mornings while my mom was at work so I figured that I might as well do it again this summer. Nicholas came up last Friday and stayed for the week. It was a ton of fun and he was so good with William. William is usually his fussiest in the mornings so I didn't get to be as good of an aunt as I wish I could have been.

Needless to say I felt like I had two kids and I learned that I don't want a second child for a VERY long time!! My mom says that it is very different when they are your own but I'm not sure I can handle a baby and a toddler until I have a little bit more experience with one of them. Kaden agrees that we just aren't ready for two kids for at least three more years.

So Nicholas doesn't normally play with dolls but he really felt like since I had a baby he needed a baby too!

He liked to feed the doll with the play bottle (he even asked to feed William with the play bottle, haha), he would even pretend that his baby was crying and then he would put the baby doll in the playpen we have set up for William. The funny thing is that whenever he put the baby doll in the playpen he said the baby needed a time out. I wonder if he thought that is why I put William in there. I guess he figured that crying babies need time outs so that they can stop crying.

We went to feed the ducks the other day and then went to the park. William was again unhappy to be in his carseat but Nicholas cheered him up quick.

My dad and step-mom also came into town last weekend to see William. We had a really good time visiting with them and they had a good time lovin on William. He just loves all of his grandparents!!

William enjoyed meeting his uncle Shae and uncle Kade. He enjoyed Shae so much he thought he might try to eat off his chest. We thought that was pretty funny!!

Tomorrow my baby boy will be 4 weeks old! I just can't believe how fast he is growing. He is getting so big too! I have had to retire some of his newborn outfits and the Pampers newborn diapers. He still fits into Huggies newborn diapers though which is good since we have so many. We had to adjust his carseat yesterday too. He is just so tall!!

William enjoys tummy time and he loves to look around.

Today we took William to church for the first time. He did well until the Sacrament prayer and then we had to take him out into the foyer for the rest of Sacrament meeting. Luckily he fell asleep long enough for us to go to Sunday School. Kaden got a new calling as the media specialist a.k.a. librarian. So hopefully we can get baby boy used to church so that we don't always have to be in the hallway.

Kaden went golfing with his buddies yesterday and he was so excited because he did so well. They played 9 holes and he shot a 38 which is only 2 over par. He is pretty proud of himself. Now we just have to get him playing 18 holes so that he can establish his handicap.

Tummy Aches

Sleep has been postponed lately because my little guy has some tummy aches. I've tried to be careful about what I've been eating but William still has such bad gas that I feel like a horrible mother. I sure hope that he starts to feel better soon because I haven't taken a shower in two days!! Gross! I mean I can't exactly hold him while I am showering, can I? It is just not worth it.

I can't say that I'm not getting enough sleep, because I am, but I still get really frustrated at night sometimes because William is frustrated and he won't sleep or calm down even though his diaper is changed, he is fed, burped, and he is warm. The other night I was so tired and I was just emotional so my loving hubby took William into the other room and rocked him to sleep. Man I don't know what I would do without him! He works all day and yet he is the one that'll get up in the middle of the night to change William or to rock him back to sleep. I am so lucky!

For Mothers Day Kaden got me The Remarkable Soul of a Woman by Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

I started reading it yesterday (it is a short book because it was a talk he gave a couple of years ago) and it was amazing how it was exactly what I needed. It is like he knows exactly what I am thinking and feeling lately as far as how inadequate and frustrated I have felt. Kaden tells me all the time that I need to stop dwelling on the negative and this book really reinforced what he tells me. It gave me that spirtual uplift that I so desperately needed.

So here are some pictures from the last week:
William is 1 week old

William likes to peak to make sure you are still holding him. This time he gave somewhat of a smile.

William went to Great Grandma Huntsman's house so that mommy could FINALLY get out of the house. He wasn't happy to be in the car seat. This is his second time ever being in it.

After crying for a little bit and mommy rocking the car seat back and forth William finally went to sleep.

Auntie Kami came to visit. This is when William first met her.

William went to his first birthday party last Saturday and he also got to use his stroller for the first time.

Going to Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Jensen's house for a BBQ.

William's umbilical cord fell off on Saturday so before I took him to the doctor on Monday I bathed him for the first time (the other times were like wipe downs).

Mommy and William

Since I have to go back to work soon we are beginning to introduce William to the bottle. He took to it pretty well and daddy felt pretty proud of himself for finally being able to feed William.

Two weeks

My little guy is two weeks today! I just cannot believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like just yesterday Kaden and I found out we were having a baby. My pregnancy went by pretty quick and I wasn't sick hardly at all. I really could have gone another couple of weeks being pregnant because I felt so good. William was due on April 21st but two days later here I am.

On Monday April 26, 2010 I woke up at 6 a.m. and realized that my water broke. After getting ready and eating we left for the hopital. I wasn't having any contractions so they gave me Petosin at 9 a.m. to get them started. A couple of hours later my contractions were causing extreme pain down the sides of my legs and I was unable to relax. I really wanted to postpone the epidural as much as possible but ultimately I didn't want to let the contractions get so bad that I couldn't sit still for the anesthesiologist to numb me.

After getting the epidural I was finally able to relax and even take a nap. Eventually things progressed and the drip system that is hooked to the epidural wasn't working so the anesthesiologist came in two more times to give me an injection. Thank goodness he did because again my legs were KILLING me and I was getting so tired from pushing.

The doctor came right in time for William to be born. It is strange that the doctor isn't there the whole time but I liked that there wasn't a ton of people in the room until the very end. Kaden was so sweet and counted while I pushed and told me how great I was doing at pushing. I can't imagine giving birth without someone there that really cares for you.

William was born at 7:33 p.m. weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces and 20.5 inches long. He came out with the umbilical cord around his neck and our doctor said, "Sorry Kaden but I have to cut this." He said, "Do what you got to do." Truth be told he wasn't liking the idea of cutting the cord anyways. Since William was having trouble breathing the nurses almost took him away without letting me hold him, but luckily my doctor said, "Give him to her." and they did. I can't even begin to express the joy that I felt when I held him. I knew at that moment that everything would be okay and I was so happy to have this little gift from God in my hands.

Afterward they let me eat and I started to feel really light headed. The nurse was in the room as I expressed how light headed I felt. My mom says that I even lost all color in my face. I started having massive clots, had to have a shot, and they upped the petosin to try to stop all the blood. At the time I didn't think too much of the whole situation but now I realize that it was super serious and I am glad everything turned out okay.

Here is William in the NICU

After going to the nursery and getting clean

Since William was born he has really grown. Everyday his head gets stronger and at times he can hold his head up by himself for over 3 minutes. We had his 2 week doctors appointment today and he is now 8 pounds 10 ounces, 21 inches long, and everything is looking perfect! He is so much more attentive and can focus on anything he sees. He even turns his head when he hears a voice that is familiar to him. We have only had a couple of nights that were extremely difficult.

I have to go back to work in 2 weeks so today will be the first day we introduce a bottle to William. He hates pacifiers so we are praying that he will be okay with the bottle. I know it won't be easy initially but one bottle a day until I go back to work will hopefully prepare William for maybe three bottles a day. We will see...
